Guest spaceman
Morning all. I have a mk4 efi with ashley four branch manifold and single box exhaust with sportex back box. It is a little too loud for my taste and am looking for a quieter alternative without resorting back to std back box C/W Macdonalds straw tail pipe! Just wondered what everyone else is running, std manifold and stystem with better backbox or what? Thanks
Guest charlie74
atm mines fitted with a standard exhaust,, but if i was after a performance one,, then i would go to powerflow,, as you have a massive choice of tips and they will aim to make the tone suit what you want
Guest Alanman
We've got SS system bespoke to our choice from a place in Sheffield. www.exhaustsuk.com They'll make it a loud or as quiet as you want with any tail you can think of. They were the exhaust sponsor for 'pimp my ride UK' (dont know if that sells it for ya). lol.

Escort Cabriolet Club
I am running a toataly Custom Full Stainless CAT-Back system, just like AlanMan's its bespoke to my specs but it will not fit any other car, only mine, this is down to having a Custom one off Rear Bumper, the back box was designed to fit it, a 206 Pug bumper was used so a nice medium sized oval from the Pug tail pipe section was used, these are the only pics I have of it at the moment, no vids either as it went straight to my mechanics to have loads of work done !!! Guest Haddow
if you want a good sound built to your spec then go the likes of powerflow that custom build them for you, but time and time again for proven power increases then people like Mongoose and Janspeed are your ones to go for, they dont spend years of research into making exhausts give optimum power increases and good flow for nout im running standard mani atm but will be upgrading shortly and a Mongoose system on mine, however will be changing it all soon for something else. ianxr3i
I have got a Magnex stainless 4 branch & full two system on my 'H' plate MK4 EFi cab. It does sound lovely & still sets off the odd car alarm when i'm over 4000rpm.
chaz
Mine is very similar to what Uncle Henry fitted prefer to hear the music then the exhaust. Still saying all this the old girl still have a raspy angry sound when I push her up the revs on second gear, not very often I do this but sometimes it's good to clear the cobwebs. Guest Haddow
yup, mines at the moment with this current exhaust system i hear the music all the time but a nice rumble at the back of it, then after about 10 minutes running time she starts to spit and ignite the excess fuel on the hot exhaust, the sounds is just simple fantastic......... i'll get a vid up once its running again before i fit a new magnex system to it
Guest tacha_maree
if your gonna change it do as suggested and get one custom made or buy an after market one but the sound of your exhaust is determined by the position of your silencer. i think and lease correct me if im wrong but the thurther back the silencer is the lower the pitch. i think "chery bomb" exhausts have 2 silencers built in which bot work on various itches giving it the sound its known for. im running a full janspeed exhaust with a 4-2-2-1 manifold, its given extra horses but is subtle it has a low grunt when accelerateing to a certain point then is a very mellow tone, it just has a little burbely noise when ideling. the efi engines sound nice anyway you dont need to ruin it with a loud arrogant exhaust.
