hi, is it a mk4? if so ive had this trouble before lol, jack the front of the car up and lay underneath it, you should be able to get your arm up between the rad an manifold, its a very tight squeeze, feel about rite at the top and you will be able to follow the relese cable, push the little catch accross where it ends and she shud pop open!! fiddly lol

For this method you will require a pair of good gloves, safty glasses, a extention lead....(If your not to close to a plug socket) AND MOST IMPORTANTLY A JIG SAW.

Mark a round hole in the centre of your bonnet.....you could use the ford oval badge as a marker then proceed to cut a nice round hole making sure that you dont damage the bonnet to much, dont go all ther way round and leave a couple of inches then lift up the flat.

This will allow access the the bonnet lock asm and also as you have not cut all the way round just bend the metal back flush with the other metal. this is what you need the gloves for, i did this and then had to go to hospital with a sliced of finger.

Hope this is of help Eddie

Steve.
