Havent chosen a headunit yet there is a pants one in atm (Goodmans) lol. Probably going ot get the new £200 Kenwood Bluetooth ready jobbie. That's a touch expensive for speakers I'd be buying Rainbows if I was going that end of the scale probably upto £150 for speakers budget wise Edited July 29, 2008 by Webby1980
Guest sjc
not gonna offer any equipment advice, imho it was bloody hard to make me mk4 sound any good, its still not as good as a tin top with half the amount of money and power thats gone into mine. best advice I can give you mate is to get down to meets and shows and listen to any mk5s that have added systems and see which route best suits your earholes........ Really looking at amp and some standard coax speakers, amp and larger coax, or amp and larger componants. Depends on how you like your music and what your amp budget is too.. If you like bass, i wouldnt stick with standard size.. I was thinking of getting some 3 ways, and sticking the largest one (6.5") in the door pocket area, the 4" one in the current speaker space and the tweeter in the end of the speaker holder, where there is room.. DO you know of anyone who modifies door pockets? I'm not very handy like that I can do the wiring and what not but speaker builds NONONONO. I'm watching a couple of RF XLCS 12" on ebay atm so my bass will come from there. Guest bego2k
iv got vibe components in my mk5 had to cut some of the orginal bracket away coz the die cast basket wouldnt fit through the hole, also i had to be careful coz the basket was deeper than the depth provided in the door. iv got 2 sets of these and cost me around £250. Guest 6tracy9
I bought the adapter plate for the front speakers in mine and now have 6inch speakers in the front - can't remember who they are made by - think they were about £120, had no problems at all getting them to fit and then putting the door cards back on, Just need to find the adapters for the back ones now! But i've been told they are hard to find!
