Guest Bikerogg
Hi Guys, I cleaned the breathers out on my mk5 1.6 efi but I feel its burning oil and am now looking at engine replacement, maybe its just a good excuse. I have 2 options fiesta rs turbo or escort rs2000 can anybody tell me which one is easier? which one is more cost effective? what I need per option? what I should be paying out to do this? I want to fit myself so I am after a rough idea of what I need and how much I should be paying out. Also am I right in thinking that the frst engine will drop straight in being efi work on the same loom with only having to change the ecu and the map sensor? if this is the case do you have to manufacture an exhaust for this? I know this is a lot of questions guys but my mind keeps turning over with potential problems and some of you will have already done these conversions I have a limited budget so any help appreciated Cheers Ogg
Guest lutonman12
think the rs turbo(efi )route is the best route cos as you say its straight swop think you gotta swop a couple of bits over but nothing major, and itll be as quick as the rs with a couple of mods AND its a turbo!!!!! I would like to go down the rs2000 engined route but I cant find enough information as to what I would need to do it as in parts to change loom ecu exhaust gearbox etc etc do want it to be reliable though even though it will only do around 2500 miles a year if that. I have seen a few rs2000 engines cabs on the internet so obviously its a viable conversion the frst route just seems easier for a diy mechanic.
