Hi guys

me again.... i broke down today and had to call the RAC bloke out, basically the car will turn when trying to start but wont actually start, now normally you can here the fuel pump engage when you turn the key to its second post as it buzzes for a second or two but now i cant hear it. when the RAC man come out he put a bridge between the fuse for the steering lock and the fuse for the pump and guess what it works!! This leads me to believe the immobiliser & alarm isnt working properly as the next day it will start again. I have checked the fuel cut off switch and its fine, iv checked the fuel pump relay its fine, iv checked the fuse and again its fine. so the only thing left is the immobiliser. I have tried to get it to a garage but when i get it there it starts working again so they cant fix it. What should i do, i mean im pretty conviced its the alarm/immobiliser so was thinking of getting it taken out or replaced.

now i have explained i have two questions.

1. is it going to fix it.

2. if it will fix it how much around will it cost.

phew..... thats me done for now :0)

hello bego mate intermittent faults like yours are very difficult to fix so i would say either just take the immobilisher off the car or money permitting replace it with a new one hope this helps mate.

have got it booked in at sextons in glos for 2moz @ 1:00 so will let you know what they say

ok took it to sextons and guess what..... they cant do anything with it, apparently its ford fitted so have to take it to ford  its gunna cost me a fortune. Sextons did say though they could take the old 1 out and replace it with an insurance approved 1 for £350.

yeah mate £350 is a hell of a lot of money for a alarm/immobilisher unless its a top of the line one that is if i was you i would get a 2nd opinion from somewhere else and shop around and see how much you can get an alarm immobilisher for then get a auto electrican to take the old 1 out and put the new 1 in fairly straight forward work for a good auto electrician mate let us no how you get on mate thanks eddie.
