Hi all

Please help me. On my Mk4 cab some nice person has cut off the connectors for my power supply and speakers  on my head unit. I'm going to have to look at getting some more standard ford male connectors.

Would someone be so kind as to advise me to wich order I will have to put them in when I have the connectors.

The wires colours are as follows :-

Red

Yellow

Brown

Blue

Grey/Yellow

Red/White

Thicker Brown.

Please could I have a pic.

Thanks

Allan

allan mate your best bet is go to the car scrap yard find an old escort and cut the radio (head unit) plug off then just attach colour to colour from the plug to your car wires if you cannot find one or need further help let me know and i will take mine out and have a look for you as mine had been cut and i had to attach a new wiring block the same as you are having to do.just ler me no if you need further help allan mate.

hi allan this is from what i can remember (been a long time since i used standard wiring)

first off check for some more wires as speaker wires are missing and i think some one might have had an amp fitted as the only blue wire should be for an amp

hope this helps

Red- battery

Yellow- acc switch

Brown

Blue

Grey/Yellow

Red/White- not used

Thicker Brown- earth

black/grey- aerial

had this problem on my old mk4, some left wires hanging and just tapped them up.

yellow + switched

red + permanent

brown earth

red with white tracer two electric aerial

grey with yellow tracer illumination wire (dont know what that one is, maybe back light on the old stereos)

when you done that, should just be the speaker wires left, get a 9v square battery, and put the wires on both sides. you get a speaker crackle, this helps if you got one of them speaker selector in the dash, or for the headunit speaker balance.
