Guest J16006
Hi guys - my first post ...... so here goes! I'm trying to get a 16v cabriolet Si back on the road. .... Its been garaged for about 8 years and hasn't been moved. It has been started very occasionally - but the last time was about 18 months ago. I've now got it firing and running if you squirt some fuel into the cylinders, but I reckon the fuel pump isn't running as it won't keep on running. It has the fuel pump buried in the tank, and it looks as though there has been a problem with the pump/sender connector in the past as the +ve to the pump (bk/red wire) has a joint in it .... with a wire bypassing the pin in the plug and disappearing straight into the tank through a hole drilled in the plastic connector! ........ Yeeeee Haaaa ! What I'm after is the pinout wiring for this connector. I've got two brown wires, a brown/black stripe, a brown/green stripe and the bk/red. As the fuel guage doesn't work either I reckon either the connector is miswired, or the sender and pump is dead .... My Haynes book doesn't give this detail, so can anyone help ?? I want to check everything I can before I drop the tank out this weekend .... Andy
Guest ste
hopefully this will help you, but first have you tried the fuel pump reset switch in the drivers footwell. your 2 brown wires are earths, brown and black is sender unit, brown and green fuel pump, black and red goes to the ecu. i have attached diagram so you can look for yourself W5933040.pdf
Guest J16006
thanks for the info. Big help. I ended up having to drop the tank anyway, to get the pump assy out. Pump motor seized ..... and 5 pin connector badly corroded. Anyone got a pump assembly for a Mk5 escort ? Andy
