Guest sjc
all the above....if Im reading the drawing of the dials right...... with key in, engine off but lights on, the blue wire is in effect the return to earth not the feed. The Alternator, Oil Pressure, Choke, ABS and Handbrake are all off the same feed, so they have to be working. The blue wire is also connected to the heated windscreen relay B/Y wire. Admin Paul Posted April 8, 2008 Author Admin Share Posted April 8, 2008 So if i put that wire to ground it should put the light on? If it does its the alternator at fault. If it doesnt then poss bulb out? Paul

Admin Paul Posted April 23, 2008 Author Admin Share Posted April 23, 2008 Ok, went back to this problem. If i put a piece of wire between housing and good earth battery light comes on. This would indicate the alternater is not earthed very good to the body and after several start ups of the car the battery is dead so would also indicate that it requires a earth to charge the battery. Would i be right?? It appears that the alternator gets its -ve from teh bracket bolted onto the engine block? or does it have a seperate earth wire? I think the problem is the bracket and heat sheild are powder coated and i think this is the problem. Can i take a -ve from the alternator directly to the body if so what guage wire?
