Guest barry1974
HELLO ALL. JUST BOUGHT A 1990 G PLATE XR3I CAB. 2 TONE IN COLOUR. MAROON OVER SILVER. PROBLEM I HAVE GOT IS THAT THE ROOF DOES NOT CREATE A SEAL BETWEEN THE REAR WINDOWS AND THE WINDOW SEALS. THERE IS APPROXIMATELY A 10 MM GAP UP THE SIDE OF THE REAR WINDOWS. CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN HOW I CAN ADJUST THE ROOF TO CURE THIS PROBLEM? JUST STARTED CLEANING UNDER THE BONNET READY FOR SOME SUMMER FUN!! THIS SHELL HAS SURVIVED THE YEARS VERY WELL AND MUST BE 1 OF THE CLEANEST TOTALLY ORIGINAL CABS LEFT OUT THERE. TOTALLY ORIGINAL PAINTWORK, WHEELS, TRIM ETC.. ETC.. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!!

Guest ANDYA
Barry, Your car looks really great. Having looked at the pics, there's nothing obvious with regard to the gap you mention. In fact, your roof sits much better than mine! Couple of ideas; 1. Click on 'Community' at the top of this webpage. Select 'Downloads', then 'Technical Information'. In this section you'll see there is a downloadable 'Roof Fitting Guide'. I've already gone through this and the only bit that you might have missing or badly placed appears to be the sealing strips to the rear side windows. This is near the end of the fitting guide. 2. Before you do anything, assuming these bits are in place, try and open and close the roof a few times. If it is very stiff, it may be that the mechanism is not fully extending or retracting. Try a little WD40 on the 'elbow hinges' as you open and close the roof. Hope this helps. Andy
Guest barry1974
HELLO AGAIN. BEEN AND TOOK SOME PICTURES OF THE ROOF FIT TO THE REAR WINDOWS. ANY IDEA HOW TO CLOSE THE GAP BETWEEN THE SEALS AND THE REAR WINDOWS??
Guest ANDYA
Barry, I went and looked at mine. The sloping edge of your window should fit in to a rubber edging that is attached to the roof. Judging by the gap I think this may be missing. The detail at the end of the 'Roof Fitting Guide', I mentioned on my last post shows these. Have a close look at your car. Does it have these rubber strips? If the strips are all there, you may have to adjust your rear windows, they may have been incorrectly aligned at some time. The whole window assembly would need to be moved backward. I still think the missing rubber strips are more likely, as you don't have much horizontal adjustment on the rear windows, otherwise you create a gap on the front vertical leading edge. Let's know what you find. Good luck with it. Andy
