Escort Cabriolet Club
Hi Peeps !!! :big_wave: Went to Eggsy's on Monday to catch-up and give him a hand with his new instal, he wanted to put some 10" speakers in the metal parcel shelf so naturaly, out came the Jig-Saw lol !!! YouTube Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-o-zKso1H8 This is the ideal place to mount big speakers, great for a sub even !!! I don't need to do this to mine as the previous owner did it for me !!! Edited February 5, 2008 by ESCORT-X4GC

Escort Cabriolet Club
It the same as the Tin-Top Saloon PIP, that has tin across the back behind the seats but due to it not having a roof that folds down into it, they added and extra shelf like a parcel shelf in the hatch back Tin-Top and put the rear speakers in it !!! Guest rambo
what about when the roof is down???can you still hear anything??? and wouldn't the loose vibrations crack the rear window when roof is down??
Escort Cabriolet Club
LOL, no mate, it won't crack the window, seen a Transit Van windscreen crack but it did have 15 12" inch subs in it and around 30,000 watts of pure music power !!! :wow: Its sound ok with the roof down but you still have rear speakers in the rear cards !!! Guest rambo
but it would block the bass i guess, im driving around with the back seat open s i can hear my bass at its better qulity but as soon as someone gets in the back all i hear is rattling. want to do something about it, was thinking about cutting the middle of the seat and building a port thats further back than the fabric so i can still have 3 people in the back but its alot of work and i dont know if it is a structual part of the car. this idea seemed simpler
Escort Cabriolet Club
The tin shelf is not structural mate, you might even get twin 12's in it, might get the bass better as it is attached to the frame of the car and rattle it more lol, plus imagine how it will sound with the roof up, 3 peeps on the back seat won't block it either !!! Guest marty-the-spanner
my old cabby had 6x9's in the rear shelf, was pants with the roof down!! i thought it kinda defeated the object of having a drop top not being able to hear much when you are enjoying the delights of a cabriolet. i've just stuck to a fairly normal set up this time round with stock positions etc
Escort Cabriolet Club
I'll be puttung 6x9's in the rear cards and SUBS on the shelf so you will FEEL them as they are attached to the frame of the car !!!
