Guest jonnyc
Hi guys, i have the oppourtunity to get my hands on a fez rs1800 engine. Should be a nice power upgrade ofver the xr3i mfi im currently running. So question is how easy is it to fit and are any modifcations required to fit it into my mk4 cab? Guest jonnyc
Ye it is efi came outta fiesta mk3, but now am thinking for tuning would be better to go down the rs turbo road?
Guest steelcabby
keep it simple and go rs turbo, but you still have to swap the loom out, that will take about 2 hrs, not bad at all...easy
escortcabrioletclub
you do not need a efi tank ........... i think you geting muddled up with carb and injection .... as thay are difrent im running a bloody st220 v6 engine on a mfi tank with standed pump i was runing a st24 on a mfi tank with standed pump i was runing a 1800 zetec of a mfi tank and standed pump i was runing a 1600 efi on a mfi tank ......... depending how you want to go you could use the rs1800 ecu loom and graft into the escort loom as the fester engine loom is seprait from the car loom or you could change the escort loom to a efi escort loom and ust that to deristrict the engine and run it ,,,,,, theres many ways to do it but its all down to hw good you are with a spaner theres a fue sites dedicated to zetec conversions ...... with people like myself that have done them before ...... may be worht a look
Guest no2lurch
you'll need a modded top mount to.
Guest steelcabby
if your not really sure on the convertion. it would be simple to do a escort rs turbo convertion. no modding needed, all fits straight in.. also have very easy access to power upgrades etc etc at a low cost.. but if your really determined to do it, then there is alot of help on forums etc.. but just takes a while to get anwsers and the right ones at that. you could regret it.... Where are you located?? :drink:
Guest jonnyc
Cheers for the help guys, located in enfield. its the rs1800 zetec block 130bhp twin cam that came out the fez mk3. Seems like a good upgrade but i'm thinking would i get bore of the power in the future and how easy are these engines to tune i.e can you turbo them? Everything is included block, box n loom n ecu. Should fit straight it aren't fez m3 mounts same as mk4 ones?? anyone no about these sites? Edited January 19, 2008 by jonnyc
Guest steelcabby
ask tony what sites he got his info on, also 2lurch2 has done a zetec convertion.. as for tuning them, its no very easy to get power gains, you have to do alot of work and spend abit of money to get extra horses out of them, your also be putting it in a much heaveier car too. not sure about the engine mount, think you have to use your engine mount but modify it to bolt with three holes as the hole alignment is different and you can only bolt it on two.. up to you really how secure you want it i surpose.. you could chip it, de-cat it, exhaust, better cams etc, but it wouldn't be a great lot of difference, i don't think anyway.. how much you getting it for?? if you drop a rs turbo lump in, which is also about 132bhp as standard, you could chip it put a mongoose exhaust on, raise the boost to about 13-14psi, increase the fuel pressure to about 6 bar, open up the air box and you will have yourself a pretty fast car, compared to the 1800 zetec. then you could start upgrading intercoolers and rads etc. still alot cheaper than a zetec route, also if you wanna turbo the full zetec, it needs to have a fair bit of work done on it, also needs the exhaust manifold, then a down pipe made up,, etc etc, ask andy as he has done the convertion on his mk4.. Tp be honest, its all about time and money, if your a rich git, and have a nice big garage and don't need the car for awhile, then go for it.. but it your not and you can't really be without the car, then do a full rs-turbo convertion. it can be up and running in two days. escortcabrioletclub
if you use the car all the time dont go turbo lol
Guest steelcabby
you could have a nice 200bhp reliable turbo'd cabby mate... any more than that and you will need to keep it well maintained.. But its like anything, if you look after it, keep it well surviced, then you will have no troubles at all... iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii'y
Guest ajs_20
Fiesta Zetec engines are weak and also suffer badly from sticky valves. CVH is more a fun engine which actually wants to rev!
