Battery Going Flat Overnight

Right guys, more stuff to be sorted lol

On Sunday I had a new rediator fan switch put in-old one had snapped lol

Thing is when I turn on the ignition, the fan comes on straight away-even though I have unplugged the connections that kept fan constant before new switch was put in.I have taken switch out and reconnected fan to run constant as before.

Also, while me and Jon were working on it we had to disconnect the fan and take it out as well as the starter so as to get a 4 branch manifild up into place.

The only other thing we did was take the wires off the positvie on battery to find out which one was for fuel pump.

Came out today, battery flat and my indicators were flashing and was a clicking inside car and also coming form distributer cap.

What the hell has happened?lol

Sounds like somethign is drawing power overnight mate, it is entirely fesible a "knackered" battery will loose charge over night, but combined with the clicking indicators I would assume either you have an alarm system that is acting up, or you have water in the electrical system, normally the fusebox on Escorts.

Regards,

Andy

Sounds typical of alarms but it`s been on 2 years battery is 2 years old too but what a coincidence it`s happened after working on car as well.

bloody hell stevie mate, hope all that means you got the fuel pipe and banjo sorted last week, but sorry you have run into some other problems....chances are you have put this fault on the car accicdentaly with the work you have just done so I would look back over the weekends work.........

did you run a new wire to the fuel pump and are you sure you found the correct +ve?

check over everything you have done Steve, make sure you havent pinched a wire to earth when bolting up the manifold or replacing the starter motor, go over the fan switch and pump wires and the fan overide switch you installed.

Failing that look in Ollies post on batteries going flat for a good way to track down this type of fault.

Well guys, last night I took a chance and parked car and put alarm on as usual.

Came out 8-9 hours later to go to work and it started strong as always lmao

What`s more, for some reason last night I put the radio fascia on and was actually saying to myself

"...........it ain`t gonna work but ya never know.............................."

and the bloody thing worked FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So,I dunno what went on but things seem ok now lol

I did chaeck the wires on battery positive last night, took em off cleaned em a bit, even took dizzy cap off, blew that out and made sure it wasn`t dirty.

Strange, but ho hum will wait and see now-perhaps we will never find out what it was all about lol
