Guest klasing Posted August 9, 2007 Share Posted August 9, 2007 I have a MK 5 escort (see my other post) however in the last couple of days the pump motor seems to have died, upon further inspection i appear to have a leak as all the fluid has leaked on to my hood cover here is a pic what should i check for leaks before i spend all my money on a new pump! thanks! Escort Cabriolet Club Posted August 11, 2007 Share Posted August 11, 2007 My mate had a small leak a while ago, we took it out, took off the pipes and cleaned the treads, added some teflon tape then put them back on, we also made sure the pump itself was nice and tight, once we filled it back up it worked a treat, then he crashed it 4 months later, pure genius !!! Guest Eggsy Posted October 21, 2007 Share Posted October 21, 2007 Fill it up with fluid (best to use a syringe & correct fluid) take the pump from it bracket & see if you can find the leak 1st b4 you start trying to buy 1, the cab club do a pump cog repair kit that comes with - cog x2 screws & the seal that goes between the motor/fluid carrier - it may be that??
