  1. Does anyone know where to get replacement electric aerials from, anybody bought one or fitted a universal one? I assume originals are Hirschmann as were most Fords just stamped up Ford. I have found a Hirschmann 2050
  2. Looks like they did exist. I found this German Brochure.
  3. Hi Ian it just says XR3 INJ. Yeah I wondered if they were fitted as options, most probably so, I assume you could get half leathers then in 89' as an extra, and the wheels. I remember at the time there were some cars half way between 88" and 90' spec. I know it had 90 spec stickers as you could still see the outline of them on the wings and boot which is why I changed them back. It was built Mar 89' but registers Nov 89'. The build plate as I say just has an X on and BA3. The Build plate on my Capri is much more detailed. Are all XR3is 86'onwards like this?
  4. Are any of you experts on Specs? My car is a March built 89' XR3i. It's Diamond White. I have been told it was sold as a Special Edition with half Leather seats, electrics as in windows and roof and heated front screen, it also has the lattice style cosworth alloys. The only Special Editions I can find don't appear to show the car as white. Is the car a special edition spec car and could you have bought one in white? The build plate on the slam panel just has an 'X' on it and says BA3 which I assume is diamond white? Anyone with any knowledge on these?
  5. Does anyone have, or know where I can get a cover from? All eBay ones seem to be damaged as is mine. Anyone had one made? Regards Mark
  6. Yeah me too. Second one I have had in white.
  7. Hi I'm unsure about specs but it should have the standard MFI cam cover, I have one so will get it cleaned up and refitted. The motorsport cam cover has just been retro fitted. I quite like them but I am a standard guru so it will have to go. You are right it is a RSi one. I used to own an RSi, the only car I wished I had never sold. It is still around but has been reshelled and messed around with as it was written off not long after I sold it. It was in amazing condition. I will dig out some pics. Only sold it as lost use of the garage. As soon as I sold it I got 200yrds down the road turned around to get it back then turned around again and thought sod it, I actually traded it for a Rover GTi
  8. Thanks Ian, yeah I will definitely try and make some this year. Off to Thoresby weather permitting Bank Holiday Monday.
  9. Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371929279337
  10. Hi all, bought this last week. I already have a Capri on the go so the Escort will be a next summer Job. It needs the body doing and a new roof but it's mainly all there. Originally from Guildford built March '89 it was Registered in December'89 its SE spec and recently has spent its time in South Yorkshire. Bought it from ebay. So far I have cleaned it up, put the correct headrests back in it, got a few missing bits on bobs. I have de personalised it and fitted it out with the correct badges and dealer plates etc. Looking much better now. I think it looks better now
  11. Have to say it looks ok but not my kind of thing; its my room 101 when it comes to Escorts and Especially Cabriolets seem to suffer from the modded scene more then any other old ford. Each to there own though. I think theyre Punto lights too.
  12. As far as I am aware if its a late 'F' plate you get 90 Spec Zolda seats but the smaller bumpers and Dog leg alloys. I think thats right. Cheers Mark
  13. Nice looking car got a hint of Mk3 going on, nice wheels.
  14. My 1986 XR3i Cabriolet. Build code GS = March 1986 (an early MK4).
  15. My XR3i and my old Ghia Cabriolet.
  16. When I left school I worked at a Ford dealer and to me its the memories of the car being original that floats my boat. If I was to some up my period XR3i memories it would be Pre 89 model with dog legs. My Cabriolet has a Red Mohair roof that if I keep it has to go, ruins the car for me.
  17. Is it a fairly straight forward Job to do yourself or a special tools job and how long? Cheers Ollie, I will have a look on there.
  18. Well that's the thing, as its been modded over the years it may have had the 'Torbo style' kit fitted long after and the White roof has been replaced by a Mohair Brown/Grey one. As I understand it but could be wrong, the All-white had all white interior aswell? This has the Cloth Recaro Interior (later spec).
  19. My car has been fitted with a Red Mohair hood and I want a White Vinyl one putting back on. Does anyone know the rough price to get this done and does anyone know of anyone near the 'Lincoln - Notts - East' way who can do it? Cheers Mark
  20. Mates got a White Cabriolet MK4 'F'reg '89', its been modded over the years and he's trying to put it back to original. I know Cabriolets on log books are shown as '1.6i'. How can you tell what it is? Are there any ways to I'd from chassis plates or other I'd plates, there is no badging on it, it has a Turbo Kit etc but may not have been on from new? Cheers Mark
