  1. Thanks everyone and especially Avril!! At the moment the car is sitting outside my friend's house, as I am trying to organise a garage near to where I live to store it and then start breaking it down. I was going to go the RST route, as I have always liked them and did the conversion on an escort van and combi van back in the day - both of which put huge smiles on your face . However I hae been offered a Mk V RS 2000 with full engine, suspension, breaks, wiring etc and have been told that it all fits within reason which is why I was wondering what else can easily be done. I will post photos and will bug you all for assistance . Thanks, John
  2. Dear all, Well being relatively new to the club, but having read a number of postings and being a former owner of a couple of Cabriolets from the Blue Oval stable as well as others, I thought it was about time that I dipped my toe in again and found another. Below is the car that I got as a result of loads of conversations with Avril by text and phone and quite a number of fibs . . . but all in the name of fun and intrigue. The Mk III is a 1984 example and for the moment is fine, but there are big plans including a new interior, engine (not sure which to go for as I have been told that there are a few options) and colour scheme. Postings on Cosworth engines have me intrigued, but I guess that is a lot of work as well as money; My aim was always to go down the RS Turbo route, but I have been told a MK V engine and components fit relatively easily. Any thoughts? What are the issues with fitting say an ST engine out of the Focus or Mondeo? As the old saying goes - watch this space!!
  3. That is seriously impressive and would be hilarious sat next to somebody in something supposedly more powerful at the lights, who was ragging the nuts off his car . A fair amount of work has gone in to the car then!
  4. Hi Lee - thanks for coming back to me. A friend talked about getting hold of a later Cabriolet and doing a similar thing with a floorpan from the Cossie and the body from a Cabriolet. The usual things stopped him from progressing it i.e. house, relationship and kids . I was however interested to see a number of cars at Fordfair with this conversion. I am interested in looking at alternatives to the Turbo route for a cabriolet although, like anything else, if you go to a good garage I am sure that the useable power increase and probably (more importantly) reliability are maintained. I assume that you do not have 4 wheel drive? Which if doing this conversion, you was able to get it, would give almost limitless options? Thanks, John
  5. How hard and what was the work that went in to sticking a Cossie engine in your Cab? I saw a few of them at the show, and was especially impressed with the Mk II's that were drifting!
  6. Great job on the respray! Your son is a lucky lad.
