Escort Cabriolet Club replied to a topic in Bodywork Modifications
Well there you go, it can be done but think VERY carfuly before attempting it as theres a hell of a lot of Cutting, Chopping, Filling, Sanding, Smothing, Fettling and Painting Required, you must be able to do these otherwise it will look rough !!! -

Up to you mate, if your wanting to change the dials and heater controls to Focus the fair enough it could possibly be done, but as for a full Focus Dash, thats just going to end up on the scrap heap as the door cards won't even fit !!! I just sound realy negative but I just don't want you wasting your time hacking away at your Cab !!! If you want somthing different then do the Puma Digital dial conversion and my Heater Control upgrade, both are very impressive !!! The heater panel conversion is EXCLUSIVE to the Club, its all my own work, no help, hints or tips from other sites !!! -
Not sure how to do the conversion mate but I think it was a matter of taking the backin plate off the Factory lights and bonding in the Cav lights with tiger seal !!! As for the HID kits, you get what you pay for, I paid £70 and they are still working 2 years on for my Rover and 1 year on for the Escort, you can pick them up cheap on ebay but the Guy I got them from sells VERY good kits, would you like the link to his shop ???
-
Well the car looks fab, if you realy REALY love the Car then do the right thing and get a good Mechanic or FORD specialist to do you a 1.8 or 2.0 ZETEC Conversion !!! Glad its Taxed and Tested though !!!

Good work mate, wish I could do the same kind of work, great pics !!!

Mate your going to strugle getting it to fit, you might do it but I personaly would save my money and effort, Mk4 Dash in a Mk3 and a Mk6 in a Mk5 is different as there for the same cars, this is out of a totaly different Car !!! Do a Mk6 Conversion, every one I know who has done it were very pleased with the results, you can also fit Late Spec Mk6 Escort Van dials, they are digital or Puma dials with a little conversion !!! -
How would you know ??? You have a CVH !!! :happy001:
-
Mk3 Vauxhall Cavalier Lights are similar and can be modified using the Mk4 Light back, the Lexus ones look good !!!
-
Common prob mate, mine is the same, doesn't stall so I can live with it, just a New Idle Valve required or clean out the old one with Petrol !!!

Proper CARNAGE !!! -
Any Mk5 or Mk6 3 door Side Skirts will fit mate, there not specificaly made for Cabriolets, just 3 doors !!! Heres my Mk5a with RS2000 Skirts !!! On a Personal note, I would leave the Skirts you have on the car as the suit the Mk6 realy well, the RS2000 Skirts only realy suit the Squarer lines of the Mk5's !!!

Post up some pics of the Cab as it is now and when you have finished the factory replacements !!!

REPLACING A ZETEC TEMP SENDER UNIT On my Mk6 Zetec the Temperature Gauge had not been reading correctly for a while and not showing the car getting hot, so I decided to sort it out. Firstly heres where to find it: Close up, its the brass nut with the plug on the end. To check that it is actually the sender unit that is faulty you need to bridge the connections on the sender unit plug. A piece of wire or somthing similar will do the trick, you should then see the temp gauge has gone up to the red, if this is the case your sender unit is knackered. Step 1: Drain the coolant, idealy when the Engine is COLD otherwise your going to get burnt, to do this remove the little plastic plug, on radiator inside the engine bay to the right. Step 2: Remove the Thermostat to allow easy acess to the Sender Unit, its 3X 10mm bolts. The Plug to the Coil Pack and Thermostat where also removed. Step 3: Remove the Sender Unit and replace for the new one, it has a 22mm thread old for new. Step 4: Replace Thermostat and plug in all the Connections and Plugs. Step 5: Fill car up with fresh Coolant to between the Max and Min level, I then stated the car and topped up the Coolant as nessisary due to air locks, mine went down quite a bit so keep an eye on it as if you don't remove the air-locks you run the possibility of a Head Gasket Failure, the Temp Gauge should now work as it should.
