hi ppl my dizzy cap as a slight crack in it would this have any major effect in the way it ran? e.g would it make it caugh or splutter run boggy or trouble starting?

went to look at a mk4 cabby, guy tells me fuel pump is duff, no noise when key is turned, but its an efi engine and i am not sure if the efi pump is different to the mfi as this is the only one i have had. noe i have looked on ebay as you do and the only one i can see it says it goes in the petrol tank is this right or is that just the sender? as all the mk4 cabs i have had the fuel pump is strapped underneath. please help. thanx in advance.
