i have a 1.6 CVH, what can i do to make it faster. all help welcome

hi all, i recently bought my mk5 xr3i cabby for quite a good price from 'the bay',the bloke who sold it to me said that it was all good apart from needing a good servie and tune up as oil had made its way into the spark plug wells when the rocker cover gasket went,so i handed over my cash and drove it home(chugging,no power and spluttering),since then i have given it a service,new plugs leads filter etc and some fuel system treatment and replaced the rocker cover gasket to the correct torque set
