Guest johnlwarence
i have a problem with my driver side window, it doesn't close all the way up! up to about 5 mm from the top it starts to tick as if some teeth are slipping on the mech. i have a MK.5 95 cab but the window mechanism is the cantilever system. i have looked everywhere for a replacement and even tried find-a-part, but still no joy the major problem is that water is coming off the roof and onto my drivers seat. i have managed to temporally fix it by pulling the window up fully with my hands but i can still hear wind noises can anyone help me find a new mechanism or if anyone has had a similar problem and fixed it THANKS GUYS!!! Escort Cabriolet Club
Could always try getting it looked at by a Car Auto Glass fitter, not Auto Glass as they are ripoff merchants by me, try a private firm !!! Hope you get it sorted !!!
Guest 6tracy9
Have you tried taking your door card off and adjusting the height the window sits at? Did it suddenly stop going all the way up or has it always done this?

Started a few days ago. Had a quick feel behind the door and it feels like there's a few teeth chewed up on the toothed coggy mechanism bit. is that the only bit that needs replacing? an where did you find ya replacement? Vincygav
It can not be adjusted in that sense. The problem what has happened with this is that the teeth on the regulator arm is worn at a certain point near the top. So when the gear on the motor reaches this point the teeth can not grip as it has no traction,so the window would just drop back down. My cabby was like this one I bought it from someone last year. I ended up buying a aftermarket electric motor and regulator on ebay. The regulator on these are adjustable unlike the Ford one, so you can push out the top end height on it.
