brendan, you may not like the prep work but i think as andy suggests its the most important, you spray your fav top coat on to a poorly prepped surface and you,ll end up crying into your beer as all the dodgy bits show out. good luck :i_rule:

the primer is very under estimated lol it will hav to be perfect for base and top lol block down again spray a mist coat of paint on it and block down any paint left ou hav a sag or dent dont go likev a bull in china shop you n=may need to reprimmer its worth it trust me

totally agree, the secret of a good paint job is in the preparation,if you dont get it perfect then no matter how good the painter is it will never be a good job, have seen a good few jobs at my mates when people try to save money and say they will prep the car themselves,if it was me i would just tell them to fcuk off cos they are the first to moan when their car looks crap, all ripples and fried eggs under the paint, who is it that gets slagged for the mess, the painter even though it was someone without a clue that prepped the car but they always somehow seem to forget that lol

i know that its down to me to prep perfect, thats why i ask,

i would never question the painters skills, he has done some good work,

i would rather not prep it but he insisted, but i will not be giving up on it, will get it perfect if poss,

thanks for the info guys.

only primer the repairs as the old paint is the best key & you only have to scotchbrite that & it saves you alot of time & money in primer & flating back
