xjsportman
Hi. I have a '97 Escort cabby with a 1.8 zetec engine, the revs are not staying stable...the problem is, from past experience of other Fords, the idle speed control valve. Does anyone know where the hell it lives? I have jacked the car up and even looked with my glasses on and I still cant find the little begger. I was give a brand new one by the previous owner who was going to replace it but he couldnt locate it either. Somebody please help a senile old bugger out. I can do pictures if anyone has any with it in situ!. Thanks
Guest Jon W
Yes the idle control valve is on the underside of the inlet manifold but is accessible if you have plenty of patience. If you look at the manifold it is don't of u shape and the control valve in on the inside of the curve right in the centre of the manifold. The easiest way to work on it is to remove the manifold. It is held in by two bolts with a number 8 mm head. The plug is on the right as you look at it from the bonnet.
