Guest stevelee79
Hi can anyone help. I have found water in the rear footwell on the passanger side recently! The roof seems dry as well as the seats, just seems to be where you put your feet! Think it might leaking at the rear and working its way down making it hard to source! possibly a drain blockage but don't know the layout? If anyone has had the same problem or can help would be greatful. Steve
Guest CathyB
Hi, I had this problem and it was coming in through a tear in the hood around the rear screen. Water then got in the boot and had run down behind the rear seat. Rear seat it's self was dry but boot carpet was damp and rear footwell also. Potentially it could be getting in round the rear screen if the frame has rusted and the rubber not fitting properly or poor fitting rear window seals perhaps? Also, don't just dry the carpets, get them up and the sound deadening underfelt underneath because water will be under there and you wont necessarily realise it. The bitumin layer on top of the felt stops the water coming up through onto the carpets so you may think you have got the car dry. I dried all the carpets in mine after I did the roof and garaged it but a couple of mystery wet spots kept appearing in the rear drivers side foot well. I took the carpets up, it was dry, with no evidence of wet other than two patches about 50 pence piece size, bone dry, no damp smell. Then I lifted the underfelt and it was like a swimming pool and smelt really bad. The wet patches it turned out had come through a couple of cracks in the bitumin. If they hadn't then I would never have known or investigated and could have ended up with rotten floors. Cathy
