Escort Mk6 Cab 1.8 Ghia Cd Changer Problem

Hi

 

I have recently become the proud owner of a 1996 1.8 Ghia Cabriolet.

 

The Radio / Cassette works just fine, but when I press the 'eject' button on the CD autochanger under the front passenger seat, it just makes a whirring noise and won't eject / open. On the digital display on the main unit it indicates that there aren't any discs inside.

 

Any advice very glady appreciated.
