Guest Stally08
Well after all the trouble I have had over the weekend I may have to get of the cabby may be to much money to get the car sorted there's may be a long list of things to sort out, I may have to break it to get more money for it but I don't want to break the car cuz it's a waste Watch this space for any possible updates
Dave.Wilson
What model is it?? And what is wrong with it?? I might know someone who may buy it as is (depending on the problem) to rescue it before it gets scrapped.
Guest Stally08
This is the message I got from the mechanic... No that's just wearing mate hence the metal flake unless its knocking and the ecu has detected the knocking so cut the car out to protect it but don't think it's that advanced bud, its cutting out IMHO because your loosing water in the bore that's going through the engine into the exhaust and exhaust gasses going into header tank as header tank is ready to go bang by the cracks on it bud, my advice would be to change the head gasket with new cambelt and water pump, head skim and new bottom end shells, also have the metering head looked it and cleaned up and reset as that does your fuel and they play up big time mate It keeps cutting out thought it might be the fuel pump but I guess I was wrong
Dave.Wilson
Long list.... I don't mean to be rude about your mechanic, but is he a friend who knows engines or a standard mechanic at a local garage? I had a similar thing (as I know nothing about engines) and the mechanic listed all these expensive parts that needed replacing before the engine went bang... got a second opinion and it didn't need any of the parts listed, just a simple fuel accumulater or something... Might be worth getting a second opinion, or asking about to see if anyone you know could do it a bit cheaper... But good luck, hope it all works out and you get to keep it and keep it running. Guest Stally08
You took the words right out of my mouth after some very bad advice the AA guy suggests it could be the distributor which someone put on wrong although that wasnt causing the problem, or could be the fuel pump relay or possibly the fuel pump. all in all not too hard to replace and not too expensive either. the mechanic wasnt a friend just someone who had done a little bit of work on my previous car and he was in the area while i was at work and he came and had a look, never again would i use him though!! Dave.Wilson
Asking the AA guy was a good idea, they don't work on any commission or get anything for telling you what needs replacing. Hope the simple fixes work... don't give up!
