My G reg cabby was running fine an hour ago, got home parked up as normal. Now when I tried to start it it fired and died, now it just cranks over but won't fire at all. Changed the plugs in the vain hope that might help but of course it didn't.

Seems odd the way it was ok then all of a sudden it just refuses to start.....

Any ideas?

UPDATE:- I've noticed (having simmered down) that the fuel pump doesn't 'whirr' when you turn on the ignition anymore.

So I'm presuming it's a pump or relay issue - any thoughts on what, where, how?

Thanks.

hi have you been in the boot because ford fitted a cut out switch under the spare wheel which if its when knoted by removing the spare wheel it will turn off and need reseting so try this first and then check relay

OK, checked (and tried bypassing) boot switch, no change - checked yellow relay under dash clicks when ignition turned on, power going to the silver and red valve/pump thing on the near left as you look under bonnet, no whirrrrrr though. Not sure if that valve thing should make a whirrr or indeed if that would stop the engine starting. Took it out nd cleaned it, no different.

This is getting damn annoying

It's EFI 1990 on a G plate - can't see a pump so I'm assuming it's in the tank.

Others with more knowledge may say otherwise of course

Not sure how, is there an external connector on the tank that I can take off and check? I can't really get under the car where it gets parked especially as it's on gravel there's not a lot of clearance underneath.
