Guest Mk4 Kenilworth
I purchased a MK4 mfi that had been left standing for 12 years. It only failed it's MOT on emissions.. 6% CO instead of 3%. I'm going to service it this w/end (new oil, filters, plugs etc) so I'm hoping this will bring it down, but if doesn't i reckon it also need tuning. Anyone know someone in the Coventry/Warwick area that can do this pls?? Cheers Neil
Guest Lee81
CO is easily adjusted by the screw inside the metering unit. Its accessed by the tube on top of the metering unit. No other tuning you can really do bar setting the distributor advance wihich is worth nocking back 4 degrees if your planning on using 95RON unleaded
Guest escort zx9
hi mate are you far from alferton in darbyshire
Guest Mk4 Kenilworth
Cheers Lee, I'm aware of the screw but i'm not sure how far and wich direction it should be turned. I'm going to fit a new timing belt so i wouldn't mind getting all tuned/timed professionally after. Sorry I'm not from Alferton, I'm from Kenilworth. Guest Mk4 Kenilworth
I work in Daventry so Jamsport isn't too far off. I've just removed the spark plugs and they show signs of carbon fouling, removed air filter and surprise surprise it's totally clogged and marked with oil. I reckon new filters, plugs and oil should sort it out. Cheers
