Guest tbirdbooboo
right am i being a dumbass or something. cant find any guide on how to change a hood for mk3 cab. even the tutorials sections no help ! no way!!! anyway i won a mohair hood on its frame from a mk4 on ebay and its coming tomorrow and i dont know how to take the old one off my mk3 and get the new one on lol as far as i know all it needs are the handles from my old one fitting but even that looks a little tricky lol. ive been told its just 8 bolts and a couple of screws but then someone said that if it was from an electric hood it would mean changing bits over or something. help lol ! Admin Paul Posted May 17, 2012 Admin Share Posted May 17, 2012 All you need to do is fold the old roof down locate the 4 bolts on either side of the frame that attach the frame to the car and remove as a complete unit. You will have to remove the rear door cards and speaker pods to get to the bolts and any other panels that obstruct you but all in all not a hard job. Are you fitting an electric one? Guest tbirdbooboo
cool cheers for that. the one i bought was elec but the pump, loom and hydraulic rams etc were sold seperetely so its going to stay manule like my current one untill i can afford to buy all the bits needed. Admin Paul Posted May 17, 2012 Admin Share Posted May 17, 2012 The only problem you will have is it will not have the manual catches to lock the roof down when folded down, the weight should hold it down but it will bob up and down. Not ideal
Guest tbirdbooboo
can i take them off my old frame?
Admin Paul Posted May 17, 2012 Admin Share Posted May 17, 2012 if i remember right you cannot as the electric ones never needed this part and is part of the metal work, guess you could cut and weld?
