Just wondered how mohair roofs cope with ice and snow on it. Im guessing there are protective treatments but is vinyl any more waterproof? Arthur is my everyday car so need him to be able to cope with all weathers. M

Autoglym do a cleaner / protector for the mohair roofs and its wicked stuff.

You get water beading on it if it rains, so once protected it looks as waterproof as vinyl.

I have been looking for a new roof for my Mk 4 Cabby, it is an unusual car, last one made in Germany, also has retro power steering! Two tone as well, however the websites always say that mohair is better than vinyl? is this true?

Ta for the info guys. I've started looking for a mohair roof now. So looking for a mk5/6 roof if anyone has one. The vinyl roof I have is in great nick except for a 2 inch tear at the hinge that happened the day before the squires meet. DOH!! But if I can get a mohair roof for a decent price it's worth replacing.

Thanks again chaps n I'll get some autoglym stuff too.
