Guest no1birdman
just put a windscreen in the car today, bottom of surround rusted away, seal it up on the outside, but with the diesel engine in very loud in car, looked inside engine compartmant behind skuttle can not see inside dash, so must be sealed, put some old rags on dash where meets windscreen and noise goes, now what is the best soundeadening to use, or could just keep rags on dash pushed in rubber , any ideas

Guest no1birdman
well i thought of that but it seems to go everywhere and murder to get off if it goes on inside os screen, I can only seal it from inside the car not from engine bay has there is nothing to seal there, dont know how the noise is comeing up from under the windscreen rubber but it is
iansoutham
Look around the wiper linkage area. Normally, the speedo cable grommet perishes or falls through, causing the noise to travel through, Diesel versions should also have a black sound-deadening material on the engine-side bulkhead to prevent this exact issue.
