Guest kevsbluecab
Good moaning everyone! I have a mk6 cab and the rear passenger electric window does not work, it is not the switch as I have swapped them over, when the switch is pressed I can hear a faint click ( sort of relay click ) but the window will not move. So I was wondering it is obviously the motor but is the motor the same for both sides or do I have to get the one for the passenger side? Also will a mk5 one fit? Are they the same? Thanks for your help everyone!! Keep on cabbing lol
Admin Paul Posted March 1, 2012 Admin Share Posted March 1, 2012 Daft question, you havent pressed the button on the console to stop them operating in the rear??
Guest kevsbluecab
Yes mate I have tried it in both positions. The drivers rear works fine just not the passenger. I've swapped the switches over and still no joy. So it's looking likely the motor. Thanks Kev
allblue
Hi, Motor is possible culprit, but worthwhile checking the wiring between the relay (under rear bench) and the rear window motor. Mk5 & MK6 electric mechanishms are both the same. I can't remember if the motors are both the same tho. Also might be worth checking the rear electric switch, as this is also part of the rear window circut.
Guest kevsbluecab
Ok cheers il look for that at the weekend if all goes well, I swapped the switches over and still no joy so il look at the relay and check for power Thanks Kev
allblue
Also the rear electric switches look identical between M5/6, but they are different. This is down to the wiring arrangment being different. When I brought some new ones for the rear from Ford, they listed two types, one for MK5 & one MK6. Just make sure your rear switches are MK6 ones. Guest kevsbluecab
Hi mate this may seem a weird question but where are the relays under the rear seat? I'm sure I've lifted it before but didn't see any obvious wires or relays? Are they behind the door card under the rear bench? Thanks for your help Kev
allblue
Hi, On the left and right hand side of the benches hidden within the rescesses. You don't have to take the rear card out to access them. There should be one relay on the drivers side of the car and two on the passengers side. You should be able to see the tip of them sticking out from the recess. In the bodywork modifications section, I have a post entitled MK6 electric rear window conversion. Got a couple of pics of the area in there. Hope this helps
Guest kevsbluecab
Yeah spot on thanks, just checked them well swapped over with the drivers side and still no joy so I know the relay is ok, I can hear it clicking when I press the button so I am thinking it could be the motor, thanks for your help so far
