Guest wingercop
Hi My roof pump is leaking. I have re-newed the seal that I bought from club but it is still leaking. I believe it is from the motor side and not resevoir side..any help please would be appreciated.
Admin Paul Posted February 27, 2012 Admin Share Posted February 27, 2012 If its leaking from the motor side then you will need a complete new pump unless you can get hold of a scrap one to take the bits off
allblue
It would be unusual for it to leak from the motor side, as all fluid is confined to the resevoir. I guess a strip down of the pump is needed to locate to problem area, in the first instance.

Guest Cooderkey
Hi, Without seeing the job, I think you might have inadvertently nipped the seal. See if you can get another from the same seller. I renewed my impeller about twelve months ago. I didn't want to particularly remove the reservoir seal, because it was ' sittng ' nicely in the groove. So I kept it. I have just spent over an hour searching the garage, and the boots of both my my cars, and can't find the plastic bag, that contains this item anywhere. I AM NOT GIVING UP YET, BUT, before I go on another fruitless search, which might be a waste of time, my car is a ' P ' MkVI/ MVII, so your pump might be different to mine. Car first registered 20th May 1997. Try and remember to ALWAYS indicate the Model, Year and as much information about your motor as possible. It might save you getting lots of unwanted mail about other Models, and save old men like me, searching for something that I may not have in the first place. Let me know what's happening please. Best regards, Burt. ( In sunny Llandudno ).
Guest Cooderkey
PS. Can't see it being on the motor side either. The Hydraulic Oil is either in the reservoir, or leaks to the boot floor from the reservoir. I can't se it finding it's way up the impeller shaft, and into the motor, unless there is seriously something adrift.
welshlad
hi burt, i remember my last mk5 pump started leaking and al it was, was that one of the four screws sealing the resorvoir had rattled loose, obv the fluid trickles along and makes you think its leaking from the opposite side. just a thought ??
