Manual Override And Fitting New Roof?

Hi,

Just got a 1.8SI cabriolet N reg 96, swap for battered old corsa with MOT and 200 quid, car is in good nick body wise inside and out, but major problem with the roof. When i was getting it i knew there was a prob with the roof. When i unlock the roof then press the button, there is nothing, no motor sound. I think fuse is the same as eleci mirrors and they're working OK. Is this just likely to be the switch or relay or is the motor going a common problem?

Tried gently to push the roof back manually but only goes back about a foot(until the back window is nearly lieing down, then can't move it anymore at all!! So closed up again now.

Is there a manual over ride for the electric roof?

I am just about to go and get a good condition whole roof from a scrappy that i've found, obviously this wont solve the problem though!!

How hard is changing the roof, mates a mechanic who i'm doing it with.

If there is no noise from the motor when i press the open switch is the whole opening mechanism likely to be siezed?

Really hope it's something easy but doubt it!!

Thanks

Gaz

If you are renewing the roof, there's a bloke in the Forum, who has written a very good step by step guide on how to do it. Best of luvk with that. Whereabouts in the UK are you situated?

Cheers,

Burt.
