Guest PACO-POP
Dear friends, My hood stopped working. I own a 89 escort cabrio xr3i 1.6cc What I have already done is: -I checked the up/down switch and it’s working (I put it on the electric window and it works). I tested and I can get 12v in the switch as well. -The termal fuse next to the pump seems to work ok, it has continuity in my tester. -I get 12v in the 2 relays, in fact it seems direct 12v from battery as I can test it even with the car stopped and key off. -I tried to test if I get 12v when the up/down switch in the dashboard is pushed but it seems that I cannot get any signal from the switch. So maybe I lose the signal 12v from the switch to the relays (it seems a little weard though) -I bypassed the relay with a small cable putting the 12v to the 12v out direct to the pump and it maked noise even the roof was electric opened. But it does not close if I do the same in the reverse relay. I was happy to see that the pump works… -But now I am even more worried as I have tried again to put 12v to the pump and it does not work nor make any noise. Maybe I blowed it up, who knows… So dear friends, I am very sad and very worried. I donnot know what to do. I recon I am some kind of shocked. I don’t know if I should start from scratch, or if I should take the pump out and check properly if it works or not. I was going to buy 2 new relays and one termal fuse but the 3 of them cost a total of 70euros, and I think this will not solve the problem as they probably are ok. It seems weard for me that the cables from the switch in the dashboard are cut somewhere….
