hi again, still have problem (kangarooing) with my mk4 '89 1600 injection i have........

 

changed fuel filter

 

,timing is set up as best i can( melted timing light on manifold)

 

,co is good,

 

plugs are clean and have good spark

 

car ticks over nice and smooth

 

problem arises when driving

 

have seen posts about ESS and ECT sensors but i am new to vehicle. so.......

 

what are they?,

 

where are they?

 

do i have them on mine?

 

and could they cause this problem :laugh:

 

please help if you can its driving :steeringwheel: me mad :crazy::sad:

Hi if you have MFI in your's i would change the leads,if still there then rotor arm and dizzy cap...Also make sure before changing and part the firing order is right....

Sounds more like fuel pickup issue. Maybe partial blockage. I would double check that timing is correct by establishing TDC with micro gauge. once done you can re mark the crankcase and set timing using strobe. Also ensure vacuum advance is functioning by removing pipe. It should let no air through when a vacuum is applied. Dizzy cap and arm should be checked as said though it would usually result in poor tickover if worn out.
