Guest theprophet1978
hi as per title i have a mk4 mfi xr3i cabby recently restored to a roadworthy standard upon getting it on the road my main concern was the pool of oil from the gearbox so cut a long story short the diff bearing had gone so swapped in another box and now good. second task was the tappets and valve stems all done and she sounded much better ok now to my problem.....before all of this she used to start and tick over fine upon changing the tappets etc there is now a slight knockin now im not sure if it was there before and the tapping muted it or its just appeared. it is very slight but still it bugs me, also if you accelerate in in any gear up to 4th and ease off theres a rattling, now someone said it could just be a rattly dizzy? any help would be good thanks

Guest theprophet1978
well basically both the knockin is mainly on start up from cold in fact 90%, its very faint and as soon as you drive anywhere its gone? as for the rattle which is hard to describe......all i can say is again very faint and doesnt do it all the time, its from the passenger side im almost certain and the best way to describe it is......here goes.........it sounds like a rc helecopter trying to take off under a mixing bowl lol i know thats about as helpfull as a fart in a spacesuit but i cant find any other way to describe it.
