Guest Alanman
How does the new one stop the hub/swinging arm moving forward? Are you sure that washer on the old one is welded and not just rusted stiff. Hit it with a hammer. lol.
f40 cab
hi the old one has a stop on it and no more thread behind it , the new one is threaded twice the length and just comes with a nut. i'll get some pics on later of the two. f40 cab
now should i just use the second nut to secure it instead of the old stop, and will nut hold or should it have 2 nuts to lock it in place? the new tie bar is slightly longer. any help surely someone has fitted these to there car? it cant just be me lol. Guest Alanman
That's totally different. lol Problem you've got, where do you go down to? If you go too far down the thread the wheel will sit forward and not enough will be sat back. But more importantly you definatelly need to be the same on both sides or it'll crab like a bitch. I must say, I've never seen em like that. lol.
f40 cab
apperently the mk 3 one is shorter but same size and shape, so instead of making 2 they just made a uiversal one to fit both and left it up to the diy mechanic to "guestermate" it, lol, well if no one else has fitted theses then i guess i'll be the guinea pig. Guest shaun
Have to agree with Alan on this.....Never seen them like that...... The only other thing i can think of is there adjustable to center the wheel.... but you still have to put the nut right back and big washer on it as well, then the other nut on aswell
gingergman
i personally wouldnt fit them, there not right, why should you have to line them up so to speak, not overly safe in my opinion.
Guest Alanman
I'd be happy to still use them, but I'd be making sure it was 100% lined up and 1000% tight. A mm forward or back will make no difference, as long as both sides are exactly the same, it will drive fine.

Guest avul
hi m8 i ave a set of these!!! they r better than the ford 1's as u dont need 2 shim the the bar 2 set the rear trackin, wen i lowered my cab i had 2 use three shim's on 1 side & 4 on the other 2 get the rear trackin set correct, put them on, do them up tight wiv about 3-4 thread's frm the end of the tye rod & take it straight down ur local garage 2 get the trackin set, addin shim's does do a gd enough job but wiv the new tye rod's u'v got u can get a more finely adjusted trackin, meaning u'l get the car trackin straight & true & better than shim's. wen i finally get my cabbie done, there'l b on mine, b gettin mine powder coated but not the thread, plenty of copper grease 4 the threads. regards mark
Guest avul
oh just ad a look at the pic again, stand them up side by side & count how many threads down the other was set.
Guest avul
wrote that up wivout lookin at wat every1 else said about them!!! u can buy them like this, they r adjustable, they r safe, if u lower a mk3 or 4 esc then u need 2 shim the front of the tye bar 2 push the rear wishbone bak a few mm on each side 2 toe the track in a little (sure its in or it'll scrub the outside edge of the tyre) & if the tyre's dont track straight & true 2 the front wheel's the car will crab in a straight line & handle like a bag of poo, mine did untill i set the rear track up spot on, it make's it feel like it's twist's wen u hit a bump wen u go round corner's, hope this help's... regards mark

Guest Smiler
Ooh, I wish I'd had those when I rebuilt the suspension on my cab many years ago! The local specialist had trouble setting the rear tracking on mine, these would make it a piece of widdle!
