Guest Dojomaster1984
Hi I have a 1.6i CVH running what i think is a Bosch distributor, The thing i dont know is weather the new coil i bought will work. I have got a constant energy coil. But i am not sure if it will work for me. I am getting no spark from the coil, but i am getting 12v on both terminals. So i know i need a non ballasted coil. acording to the website i bought the coil from, the only coils available for the MK3 escorts are constant energy types. So when it comes down to it. WHAT DAMN COIL DO I NEED

Guest El87cabi
well your dizzy looks the same as on my old mfi lump, so i'd guess the coil was the same, need to see a picture to be sure, if it is i've got 2 or 3, 1's genuine ford i think. hope that helps el Edited August 23, 2011 by El87cabi
Guest Dojomaster1984
Yep on a MFI setup and i even have the one wierd double wire clip hanging lose next to the meter head that is meant to connect to the distributor, BUT WAS NEVER CONNECTED. I have a coil already. I just need to make sure that i can use this CONSTANT ENERGY type.
Guest El87cabi
Well there's nothing special about the coil, if you've got a new 1, its the correct type according to where you got it from it should be right. If you've put it on, connected it to the dizzy and there's no spark then its probably the dizzy or module on it is gone, not the coil. Guest El87cabi
Lol, mine did me proper, took me to my mates then decided to sit on the drive for the night. Not good. Dive of a shared house, no heating, freezing cold n me tryin to sleep on the floor. 5am my mate goes to leave for wk, car starts, no probs. i was sithing Neway, if you think it could be the fault, get 1 from a scrappy n try that, with luck it won't have the same fault, i've got a new (to me from ford) dizzy if you have no joy, if your close i could dig it out, we try it n if it solves your problem go from there
Guest Dojomaster1984
Let me try the coil first. Even if it works i might still have yours off you (i do like having extras).
Guest El87cabi
No worries. If your in need of any other engine bits I've still got my old mfi lump in the shed plus all fitments etc. All the best el
