Wet Carpets And Watertight Roof

My MK4 had wet carpets after a day in heavy rain, but when i tried to sit in the car for a while to see where it enters the coupe, I couldn't spot a single leak!

The water is mainly in the rear foot wells, could this come from somewhere under the rear windows?

Any insight in this is dearly appreciated.

I had that in a 5 and it drove me nuts. Check your window rubber on the back window. Mine was leaking through window seal, under the outer skin, under the carpeted "parcel shelf" behind the rear cards, along the electrics to their lowest ebb... The footwell behind the passenger seat. Took me weeks to figure that out.

If you have moisture under your "parcel shelf" carpet - it's your seal.

If it mainly in the rear check the boot rubber as i know someone that had the same thing and thats what it turned out to be but also check the seal around the rear window in the roof. If you get it in the front foot well check the battery tray and around the fuse box as thats where mine use to leak.

check the seams in the roof as well.........thats where mine was leaking n ended up with soggy rear foot wells.

1st place i would look is in the boot to see if its WET...If it is then look at the rear lights as the seal is well know for leaking due to the rear light bolts holders being snapped.....
