Oil Level Light

Need some help. My car is a carb engine, but the wiring loom was from a EFI engine, and there were some dodgey connections as well. So I removed it and fixed all the bad connections, removed all the access wires / connectors and put them in a box just in case.

When I re fitted it, everything was fine. Now how ever the oil level light has started staying on. I have checked the oil level as well.

The weird thing is I have found the oil level senosr where it screws into the engine just next to the oil filter. BUT, there was never a wire /lead connecting it. I have checked in my box of removed bits and there isn't anything that will even fit or reach onto the sensor.

I have tried to google for an image of the lead. But no such luck. Maybe someone else will have better luck. Can't work out why is wasn't lightening up before I removed the loom,or re fitted it. But suddenly now it does.

Maybe the printed circuit on the back of the instrument cluster, possibly wired up to the handbrake somehow (unlikely, but worth a look)

I have some news. I removed the instrument panel, and confirmed that as previously stated, The warning light is fed a positive feed once the ignition is on. And the trigger is the earth. I identified that the earth was a blue with green trace wire. Hmmmm, why does that ring a bell.I pop the bonnet, and have a look at the rear of the engine. When I removed the loom and smartened it up, the only wire with no label was blue (with green chase). I checked the box and there was no loose labels in the box. So probably wasn't labelled up because it was hooked up when I removed the loom. When I refitted the loom, the only possible location I could see was near the car. So that was were I stuck it. Pulled the wire off the sensor, and volia the light goes off. I then connect the wire to the oil pressure sensor and the light goes back on. So I am confident the oil pressure sensor was never originally hooked up. The car has done 1200 miles in myownership, so I doubt there is low oil pressure. The engine also has hydraulic tappets, that would be more rattley than norm (well for a cvh).

So how much oil would leak out if I tried to replace the oil pressure sensor without draining all the oil??? When I have the money I will purchase the top triple guage kit on this rat sport web page,as a guage will show a problem gradually rather than a "CHRIST

not that much will come out of the switch, just get a rag ready. With the oil pressure, the light goes off at 0.3bar of pressure, min pressure is 1bar at idle. I've tested mine because the light was flashing on way back from santa pod, i've got 0.4bar at idle, so very low, but no noise from the tappets

need a pressure tester, its like a cylinder compression tester, big dial with a hose. Its the only real way of testing
