Guest monkeyboysee
hi, i just had my cabby serviced before driving it again, i'm told that the reason it cuts out occassionally is because the throttle unit is faulty and will need replacing at some point. can i just ask around for a throtlle unit for a Mk6 escort or are there different ones? if so, what do i look for to find out what i have got? cheers
Guest Tuft
Sounds like the Idle Air Control valve (IAC). There are different ones for year and engine size and type. Ebay have them listed but you do need to know what you are looking for. On 1.8 Zetec it's located just below and behind the throttle position sensor, bolted to the inlet manifold.
