Guest Tabobo
Heya, got a M reg 1994 and basically in the cold winter weather all my locks decided it would be a great idea to frequently not work! but since they have all started working fine except the boot which no long opens at all (even when i talk sweet to it) basically just wondering if anyone knows of any methods of getting into the boot without breaking/drilling anything?? Heard about a half tennis ball technique to if anyones got any 'experience' in that, appreciate some feedback, Cheers!

Guest Cabbytech
As well as the good old WD40, i know on the early mk5's the boot lock was of the plunger type, and if it was slighty still stuck in, the key wouldnt operate it to open the lock, if yours is this type, then it might be worth just making sure the part the key goes into is fully out and then try the key again. Guest Tabobo
Heya, thanks for the replies, should have said have tried wd40 and knocking it around a little an pulling it back n forth with the key but still no joy. Starting to get a bit irritating to now as need to mend my tail light, roof and fit new rear speakers and getting tempted to either destroy the lock or maybe cut a cabby hole through the parcel shelf area (not sure if theres chassis work underneath it though)
Guest shaun
Hi hope you managed to get in the boot using the key. Failing that done this on mk6 cabbie sit on back seat on driver's side grab rear seat and bend it in towards the front of the car and stick you hand in and pull the seat release and you have access to boot through the car and you can get to boot panel and take it off to look at the boot lock. Hope this help's P.S don't forget to bend seat back in to place

Hope this help's P.S don't forget to bend seat back in to place I agree, if you lift the rear seat swab you'll have access to the backrest hinges. You need a torx type socket to undo the bolts but once you have you can lift the seat up enough to pull on the seat release cable. It could well be that the plastic latch located on the end of the key barrel has broken and is no longer pulling the metal rod to release the catch. Unscrew the boot trim from inside (lying on your back with a torch in your mouth lol)then get your hand in the cavity and pull directly on the rod. Have fun. I did!
