Guest Saltrock23
Hi all who can help I have brought a Mk4 RS Cab it has all doors and boot flushed but previous owner had issues with clifford alarm and immobilisor so tore it out with no idea of what he was doing. Now i have no way of locking the car without replacing barrels which would now look gash. The car already has central locking im just needing the remote bit. I have bought a cheap aftermarket Scorpion remote central locking kit but its instructions are pretty much impossible to understand so am havin problems wiring it up. Has anyone done one of these or if not anyone know of a better one that is not going to cost the earth. Any help Apprieciated. Cheers Saltrock
Guest Lee81
Its quite simple to do. Remove the door card on drivers side and locate the wires going to the locking motor. If memory serve me right there are 4 wires. One is negative/earth, One permenant live. And the other two are the ones that trigger the solenoid to lock and the other to unlock. These ones that trigger the lock and unlock solenoids are what you want. Your alarm simply supplys positive power to each as the fob is pressed. All you need to do now is locate these wires behind the speaker cowl and tap into them. Supply the alarm with power and earth on the same circuit. I'd tell you the wire colours but my haynes manual is missing. Just pray the previous owner didn't take out or damage any of this wiring

Guest dave29
i fitted a after market remote locking unit on my all blue as mentioned just tap into the wiring behind the drivers side speaker pod...... best way to suss the wiring is use a tester probe or a bulb tester and open the drivers door and latch the door lock mech over with a flat screw driver.....(this way the locks wont unlock again when one doors shut and ones open as the passenger side solenoid is a slave motor)press the lock switch on your interior handle to lock the door while the tester probe/bulb tester is connected to the wiring.if you have found the lock wire the bulb tester/probe will light up for a second or two.same applys for the unlock wire.you can also wire in the 12v power and earth into the 12v & earth feed in behind the speaker pods too.as for connection you can either use scotch blocks which i wouldnt trust personly or or cut the wires and slide some heat shrink wrap over one part of the wire soilder the connections once you have them right then slide the heat wrap over the wiring and apply heat with the soildering iron/lighter when done. Guest dave29
also depending on the type of kit you bought you may have to convert the polarity of the central locking mech which involves wiring the relays a little different.i had to do this with mine.the link below explains how to do this.let me know how you get on. http://www.the12volt.com/relays/page1.asp#p2n
