Guest Graham Posted January 3, 2011 Share Posted January 3, 2011 Hi all again thanks for the info on my other post with regards cast iron welding ,What i like to no is can you get the engine out with the gear box still in the car or does the engine and box have to come out in one unit ? Guest avul Posted January 3, 2011 Share Posted January 3, 2011 hi graham, you can take the engine out & put it back in leavin the gearbox in as i have done it, but like lee has said it is a lot easier takin out both & spiltin them out of the car, also wen i put mine back in i took the paint off the inner chassic rail & had 2 respay it so it wouldn't rust. 4 the effort of only takin the driveshaft's, gearlingage & some cable's. my advice would be also 2 take the lot out! plus 4 what it cost's go down 2 your local ford dealer 4 some gen gearbox oil seals, well worth doin the same time. hope this helps. mark oh & maybe lingage selector oil seal as these often leak, be sure to get the right gearbox oil.
