Hi all

I have a P reg (mark 6, I think) that I have had just over a week. Given the heavy rain last week I noticed that I appear to have a leaking rear window..... Can anyone give me some advice as to how to go about fixing this as it is leaking onto th parcel shelf and through to the boot. I also appear to have a leak that comes through from the top of the driver door but I have not figured exactly where that is come from yet. I am not able to keep it garaged like the previous owner did. I was considering just rubbing some silicone sealant round it but am not sure if there is a better, more professional way of dealing with it. Any advice will be gratefully received.

Thanking you in advance

Sorry, just to add that the roof was replaced in 2008.

i now this isnt exactely a fix but when you have the door open put the window down a bit and then with one hand help the window up whilst closing the window and see if it comes up further. also adjust the little hooks so the roof pulls tighter against the screen top. as for the back window you can either apply silicone into the seal between the roof and the window rubber. or there used to be a product called seek and seal for windscreens on old cars you could try that. it could be that the roof has not been fitted properley and needs adjustment the other option for the back window is to remove it and run a bead of silicone all the way round the rubber prior to refitting. also whilst its out make sure it has been stappled properley to keep the roof taught. hope this helps. oh you can always check that the door glass is rising and lowering straight as you can do a tiny adjust ment there too. let me know if you need more help.

Thank you very much. I will have a go at that this weekend. I have also now aquired a Haynes manual. I will update as to how it goes. It would be nice to solve the problems as despite having brought the car as a cheap runaround, I love it and think its great fun
