Guest corrie
i was told that apparentely that the blue wire from the switch had to be cut or something. i asked this ages ago and never really got a straight answer. but in my opinion it would seam the live feed would have to be traced back to a relay and then changed from accessory feed to permanent live. but it could be a bit more complexed than that its just one of those jobs i cant be bothered faffing on with to find out it cant be done without ripping the car apart to trace the wiring. Guest Slo
OK I have now sorted this myself and there isnt a blue wire on my switch, theres a yellow common (+) and black/green - black/blue for roof direction. Its really simple to do, all you need to do is take off the cover in the drivers footwell where the green roof relays are, locate the relay that has the black/green and black/blue wire inserted into it, disconnect the relay and just pop out the black/green black/blue wire spade connector from the relay socket then tape up the bare end and refit the relay and footwell cover. Voila roof now works in accessory position and ignition on position. Takes all of 2 minutes.
Guest corrie
do you tape them up seperate or tape them together?
Guest Slo
both wires are impregnated into the same spade connector so you just tape it up alone and thats it nice and easy peasy

Guest Cabbytech
Nice mod, well done, The blue wire mod is for the mk6 and the switch works on the earth principle, so there isnt actually a live at the switch they are all technically earths, thats another reason why there is no illumination in the roof switch lol. I did the mod on a mk5 a few years ago, and i think it was the yellow one that i connected to earth, but i have slept since then, so would have to do it again to be 100% sure.
