Guest wbutcheruk2
Hello, I've got a mk5 Escoret Contvertible 1.6 EFI model. The windscreen rubber is very bad and old. The Haynes manaul states the windscreen is bonded in place, contact ford etc. I was wondering if the rubber surround can be replaced without removing the glass? cheers. Wayne. Guest Cabbytech
I believe it can mate as the screen is bonded to the car before the windscreen rubber is fitted..
Guest wbutcheruk2
Would be good if it can as the current rubber is very old and all over the place. I didn't want to pull it off and then be stuck with no rubber!
Guest corrie
you might find that it is very expensive from ford. as i wanted the one for going round the windscreen that meets the door glass and the roof and ford quoted me £259. but managed to find a mk 6 one in the scrap yard and they charged me just £3 and it even had a moulded gutter on it. so might pay to look for a good second hand one. Guest wbutcheruk2
Was you able to fit it without removing the windscreen glass?
Guest corrie
yes you can replace these without removing the glass but the channel must be clean and you must put a small bead of screen bonding between glass and metal frame and just push in the seal till it sits flush and then remove excess sealant after it has dried.
