Guest wbutcheruk2
Hello, I have a Mk5 Escort Contvertible 1.6 EFI model. I'm a little confused at which spark plugs to get. The Haynes manual states Champion RC6YC. I got some from a motor factors and they gave me NGK BCP8ES, these made the car run bad at low revs, so i checked the gap, which is correct 0.8mm, and then i looked at the old ones which were NGK BCP6ES. Could someone confirm which are correct please? cheers. Wayne.
Paul Grainger
You may find a sticker under the bonnet advising the correct plugs, but this will be the ford number. A factors could use this number to cross reference, but i would stick to the genuine ones if i were you. If is not uncommon for factors to supply "equivelent" makes with different part numbers, but i am concerned about the difference in the numerical part of the number as this is the operating heat range of the plug and is crucial. Get is wrong they couls even cause engine damage. Good luck
Guest corrie
i put bosch super plus in mine and it ran nice. i dont like ngk plugs as the times i have used them in other cars it has run badly. so wont even touch them. but never had any bother with bosch super plus or bosch super 4.
