Guest s6boy1979
I have had an idling prob for a while, it has ticked over lumpy for a while so started replacing bits, replaced the idle control vale, no change, MAP sensor, plugs, leads, air and fuel filters, still the same. Someone has mentioned it could be the crank position sensor and someone else mentioned the air charge temp sensor. I unpluged the act sensor and it ticked over ok and as soon as i plugged it back in it goes all lumpy again. So as they are £40 a throw i thought i would swap it for another off another car that was ticking over fine and i still got the same thing, pulgged in it idles lumpy but unplugged it is ok. So i put them on a multi meter and they tested ok so i am a little confused!!! Could it be a comdination of a few things or is it def the act sensor????? Guest Cabbytech
Have you checked the vacuum hoses, i had a similar prob on my mk5 cab and it was a hole in a vac pipe that ran round the left side of the engine bay and down to an air receiver box inside the wing, once repaired the lumpy tickover went away. Guest s6boy1979
Turned out to be a combination of the fuel pump on it's way out and the mixer adjuster not working, so just a case of getting the mixture adjusted as running a bit rich and it will be sorted.
