Guest B3NN10N
Hi, last year I bought a spares / repair P reg MK6 Ghia Cabriolet. The car had been sat for about 6 months and the roof was closed. I trailered it back to mine and a replacement fuel pump got the old girl living again. I manually took down the roof and when I tried to put it back, it wouldn't close. I have since tried everything, removing the motor, adjusting the handles etc and the roof will still not close. It seems funny that the roof was closed perfectly and now will not go back. Anyone got any ideas? I've attached some pictures to for ideas. Guest shaun
Hi mate you could try some oil on all the joints and move them back and for to free them up as they could be semi-seized were the roof have not been used. you will have to pull the inner skin back a little to see were the joints are.... Hope this helps

Guest Rustler
Hey,,,, Got my roof to close again .."No Probs" Initially we lowered the roof on a really hot day (29/30deg}, left it down till after midnight,..clear skys and rather cold ! ! tried to close it..No Way.. For 5 days ..No Go..then another hot spell, still No Go,..gave up and left it 3/4 open in the hot sun,for an hour or so..what do you know? closed first time My Theory, take Gingermans advice....keep your hood supple (I think he uses Vaseline!} In my case the heat made the hood very plyable, evedently closed down either further or tighter than in "Normal" temp and then, when Cold, would not take up original positioning.....My roof is a vynil, 19year old ,taty example So.. is this problem common to most OLD vynil tops, or does it also apply to Mohair and NEW vynils as well? Lets have YOUR EXPERIENCE, YOUR THEORIES and YOUR REMEDIES on this seemingly common problem Thanks Guys , Look forward to your input......Rustler...The Oldest Cabbier! !... Benni a up mate gota mohair roof with the same prob my self with a well not now here.s how i fix mine.before we start go to your roof catch wined the hook out enuff to grab the bar . now put some towels along the window .or anything to soak up the water.dont forget along the windows . wash the roof with warm water .at this stage we are just taking anyway protected cover.soak the roof with warm water hand temp or just above.wait about twenty mins then try and hook the bar and try and close it be carefull one twist of the hook in at a time you should only have about half an inch to make the handle to click in the closed position.now block the windows and across the wind screen again pour more warm water over the roof .when you go back the roof one twist in and shut the roof again towels again plenty of water wait twenty mins this should take and more than likely will take agood five to six hours with vynal heat the car from in side and warm water. hope this helps excuse any spelling mastakes all the best chris ps dont forget to treat your roof after or its back to square

Benni pps . if you leave over night the better cover with some black plastic to keep heat in and it keeps it damp. this will be lot easyer if you are having problems streching it back good luck
