its starting to annoy me a little its been fine until the weekend i was driving then it lost power it sometimes wount fire but when it idles it just dies if i can get it to run it pops and cuts out does any one have any ideas ive checked coolant temp sensor , fuel pump seams ok , inlet manifold sensor and regulator all ok and it has no vacuum leaks

disconnect the battery, leave for half hour. clean all the sensors etc and reconnect the battery. mine seems better for it. hope its ok now, if i ever get it back from the lazy mot station il let u no!

Backfiring and cutting out is probably the timing out in some way ie crank sensor coil pack or even the belt slipped. My water pump blew it's gasket last year and made the timing belt slip but that was more than a few ridges and bent about 6/8 valves.

not being funny how much fuel do you have in there as some pumps will only run if there's over qtr of tank or more.

mine would do the simalar thing was mfi tho.

i have an update i have replaced the crank sensor ,coolant sensor and inlet sensor . it ran sweet once the battery had been re connected but until i turned the engine off then it ran like crap and it is overfulling bad so i changed the pressure regulator ,still overfuling and choking my garage so my diagnosis has lead me to the ecu ,so im getting one so ill update then

FINALLY I HAVE FOUND OUT THE SODDIN CAUSE I RE CHECKED THE FUEL PRESSURE FOUND VERY LOW STRIPPED THE TANK SENDER AND FOUND THE PUMP NOT SIITNG PROPERLY AND THE PLASTIC JOINER FROM PUMP TO SENDER HOUSING IT SEALS SPLIT ,SO ITS HAD A NEW PUMP AND FITTED FUEL PIPING WERE THE PLASTIC JOINER WAS AND ITS BACK UP AND RUNNING
